Bantul, Yogyakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy Governor of Yogyakarta KGPAA Paku Alam X has said that Trans Jogja’s new city bus route connecting Palbapang Terminal in Bantul District with Ngabean Terminal in Yogyakarta City is a throwback to 1895.

“The reconnection between Palbapang in the south of Yogyakarta and Ngabean, which is in the city center (Yogyakarta), is also a historical flashback to 1895,” he remarked at the inauguration of the new route at Palbapang Terminal on Thursday.

The deputy governor said that the two stations, Palbapang and Ngabean, connect Yogyakarta-Bantul and are a part of the Yogyakarta-Palbapang-Sewugalur (Kulon Progo) route phase.

“And on behalf of the Yogyakarta regional government, I Iaud the Bantul district government, which has become a partner in the public transportation system development and services for the people of Yogyakarta, Bantul, and surrounding areas,” he said.

He further said that the Yogyakarta regional government has been committed to providing urban public transportation subsidies through the regional budget for the past 14 years.

“The subsidy has been implemented through the ‘buy the service’ system (purchase of services by the government from transportation service providers), which then gave birth to the Trans Jogja bus in February 2008,” he added.

This aligns with the vision of the Yogyakarta Governor for 2022–2027, namely realizing the Panca Mulia, or the five main development plans for the people of Yogyakarta through village reform, the empowerment of the southern region, the development of a culture of innovation, and the use of information technology, he said.

“The second mission of empowering the southern region is formulated by optimizing infrastructure support for increasing human resource (HR) capacity and protecting or managing local resources,” he added.
