We still have time before 2024; then please do start planning and devising the relocation process
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The head of the board of commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) has expressed the hope that the national financial services industry will relocate to Nusantara once it is designated the new national capital.
“We have highlighted synergy, strong collaboration, and proper support, and I have no other expectation but all financial services industry will relocate to Nusantara city on its first day as the new capital,” Mahendra Siregar said at the 2022 Financial Inclusion Month closing ceremony here on Saturday.
While informing that the OJK will also relocate to the new capital, he urged leaders of financial services companies to allocate some time to visit and survey the new capital site in East Kalimantan.

“We still have time before 2024; then please do start planning and devising the relocation process,” the OJK head said.
East Kalimantan’s huge economic potential could accelerate national economic growth, he added.
“East Kalimantan itself is as large as Java Island. Just imagine Indonesia has recorded such development with only Java Island as its mainstay. Imagine that if we develop it further,” Siregar said.
The OJK head cautioned that failure on part of the relevant stakeholders to synergize and collaborate would render the economic potential in Kalimantan Island useless.
Earlier, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had expressed confidence that the construction progress in Nusantara will become more visible in January 2023 as the new capital’s development progresses.
It is also expected that the development of buildings and sites for the private sector will proceed in parallel with government buildings to mark the new capital as the new economic center, he added.
“Next January, God Willing, besides (the continued development of) government buildings, the private sector, investors, and public-private partnership actors will also commence their activities (in the new capital). This will make the new capital the new economic center, and we hope the progress will continue,” the President said.
