We must not, just because of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and other issues, then decide to not attend the (B20 forum), considering the forum’s high importance
Davos, Switzerland (ANTARA) – The ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict must not diminish global entrepreneurs’ interest to attend the Business 20 (B20) forum, Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Arsjad Rasjid stated.
“We must not, just because of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and other issues, then decide to not attend the (B20 forum), considering the forum’s high importance,” Rasjid noted after the B20 Indonesia Business and Investment Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday.
B20 is an outreach group of the G20 that represents the international business community as one of the important actors in encouraging inclusive, resilient, and sustainable global economic growth. Currently, Indonesia is the chair of the 2022 B20.
At the forum, Rasjid urged business representatives to encourage their superiors to partake in the B20 in Bali next November.
The B20 forum will be important to deliberate solutions to address the COVID-19 pandemic and the post-pandemic economic recovery, the Kadin head noted while adding that some other matters that should be discussed are the energy cost and high inflation.
He said those issues, which are faced not only by Indonesia but also other countries, could escalate into food crises that might cause social crises if not handled appropriately.
“The G20 forum, which includes developed and emerging countries, will be essential (to address global issues). Then, please, tell your leaders, please come to Indonesia,” Rasjid remarked.
The chamber head highlighted that some countries had indicated their interest to participate in the B20 forum, as the event will be important to conceive ways to address global issues.
Kadin has also disseminated information about the Law on Job Creation that would boost investment opportunities and open new jobs, he stated.
“In many cases, when we explain (the Job Creation Law) in the United States, they lauded changes enacted by Indonesia as any permits can finish faster now. We need to properly utilize this momentum,” Rasjid emphasized.
Favorable investment conditions will attract investors that could support the country in achieving the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision, he added.
