We are fully committed to developing domestic industries
Jakarta (ANTARA) – State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir has said that SOEs are keen on developing and supporting domestic industries.
“We are fully committed to developing domestic industries. This thing must be done,” he added in a statement delivered here on Monday.
Minister Thohir also stressed the importance for Indonesia to have a strong and supportive ecosystem.
Over the past two years, the SOEs Ministry has established a digital marketplace for micro, small, and medium enterprises, or PaDi UMKM. The minister has also issued a ministerial regulation banning direct-appointment tender between state-owned enterprises for project worth less than Rp400 million.
Now, tenders need to be conducted in a transparent manner, and any tender worth less than Rp 400 million is required to involve MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises).
“Thus, when there is a domestic component rate which exceeds 40 percent, we support it,” Thohir said.
Meanwhile, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita has appealed to the central government, regional government, and state-owned enterprises to buy domestic products as far as possible. He said he is confident that this would help build national economic resilience and independence and have a positive impact on the economic condition of people from the lower socioeconomic classes.
The President has directed the relevant ministers to monitor purchases in every ministry, agency, regional government, and state-owned enterprise, Kartasasmita informed. This has been done to push national economic performance.
He highlighted his administration’s commitment to promoting higher use of domestic products. The program aims to promote domestic industries so their services and products are incorporated in projects initiated by stakeholders ranging from central and regional governments as well as state-owned enterprises.
