Sandiaga Uno to Launch Telusur App to Track Tourists in Bali

Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno is developing the Telusur application to track the distribution of tourists in Bali through the occupancy status in the sites, hotels, and restaurants. The app is designed before the government opens the gates for foreign tourists in the middle of the year.

“We continue to speed up preparations for the opening of Bali tourism and we have discussed an app that will help monitor the compliance with the health protocols called Telusur,” said Sandiaga in his statement on Monday, March 22.

The Transportation Ministry previously stated that it would limit the entry of foreign nationals to anticipate Covid-19 transmission, especially the new variant. Seven cases of new Covid-19 variants, such as B117, have been detected in Indonesia to date.

Telusur app was targeted to be operated in May. It will provide information on the number of visitors at each point so as to increase awareness of the virus spread and ensure that health protocols are strictly implemented in all tourist sites.

Through the app, officers can check on parties who violate the rules. Besides, it can track all tourists on vacation on the island of Gods. “So Telusur will help us in tracing and tracking [the disease],” said Sandiaga.

Sandiaga Uno is preparing to reopen Bali for foreign tourists under the scheme of a covid-free corridor. In the first stage, the government has prepared three green zones or three regions with low risk of Covid-19 transmission, namely Ubud, Nusa Dua, and Sanur.
